Midweek Nails - Spotty

I'm so excited this week, I've bought my new camera, a Canon EOS 600D. I've only been playing around with it for a few days but I love it. I'm still reading up about all the different settings so I'm just using the auto settings at the moment but the photos look great.

This week my mum actually painted my nails for me. She wanted to do some spotty nails so she chose a dark blue (Collection 2000 in Electric Punk) for the base and a white (Avon in White) for the spots.

Quite a while ago I bought some dotting tools so I could do spots but this is the first time they've been used. It took quite a while to do them but the finished result looks good.

Glossybox March 2013

I haven't done my midweek nails this week as I'm wearing the nail polish I received in my March Glossybox. This box's theme is City Chic. Along with the usual beauty card and products there was also a little city guide book included.

I'll show you a few of the pages from the city guide book. There's some nice bits of information on each city.

There's also a few stickers in the middle of the guide and a couple of pages to write notes.

Here's what products I received:

  • Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Fragrance Free
  • Juicy Couture - Couture La La
  • Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics - Lip Blush
  • Nails Inc - St. James
  • Tresemme - Tresemme Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray
Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Fragrance Free

This was created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden to soothe and protect our skin. It's an intensive moisturiser so a little goes a long way. You can use this to soothe dry hands and chapped lips, smooth cuticles and nails or shape brows. I used this on my lips and elbows as they get quite dry. It's quite a thick product and really soothes your skin. This product is fragrance free but I do like the smell so I would prefer if it had a fragrance more appealing.

Juicy Couture - Couture La La

This fragrance is feminine with bright florals, daring with bold florals and feminine with sensual woods and musk. It actually smells kind of fruity which I really like.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics - Lip Blush

This is a effective multitasker as it's a lipstain and moisturiser in one. The beeswax and ceresin wax create a sheer and smooth finish. You have to apply a few coats of this but it's really easy to apply and at the end it is a lovely pink shade which I will be wearing many times.

Nails Inc - St. James

This is named after the upmarket area of St James in London and is a classic, pillar box red which will add instant glamour to any outfit. I only used one coat for this coverage and I didn't actually apply a top coat so it's quite shiny just on it's own.

Tresemme - Tresemme Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray

This has a fast drying professional performance formula and provides all day flexible control with long lasting extra firm hold. It is humidity resistant and simply brushes out. I've tried this out a few times now and it is a really good hold and lasts for hours.

E45 Body Lotion

A few months ago I signed up to be a BzzAgent at www.bzzagent.co.uk. What is a BzzAgent? Well, you get to try products for free then you spread the word about them. You just sign up and complete surveys then if you fit with a campaign they'll invite you to it. Go check it out, it's worth a try.

A couple of weeks ago I got invited to my first campaign and I was so excited. The campaign is for E45 body lotion and it arrived last week so I've been trying it out since. I have tried E45 before when I was a lot younger but never bothered with it as I didn't really moisturise then.

They have 4 varieties of E45 Daily Lotion:
  • Touchably Smooth - helps keep skin soft and smooth
  • Nourish & Restore - helps prevent dry skin and retain moisture
  • Moisturising Lotion - soothes, softens and relieves dry and sensitive skin
  • Intense Recovery - helps restore the skin's moisture and restore smooth skin

I got 2 full size samples to try out, the Nourish & Restore and the Moisturising Lotion.

I have tried them both and they are fantastic. It's a shame i didn't take a before photo so i could show you as sometimes my elbows get quite dry but since i've been using these lotions they are looking a lot better. I am really pleased with these products and i will continue to use them and may even buy tthem once they run out. I would recommend trying these out, go on over to www.e45.co.uk and you can get a free sample to try out.

e.l.f. purchases

Earlier in the week I purchased a few items off e.l.f. and they have now arrived. This is the first time I've bought anything from them, my friend introduced me to them and I saw something I really wanted and just had to get it. Most of their products are quite cheap but I don't know about the quality of them just yet.

So, here's what I bought:

A lovely brush holder, I've been looking for one of these for ages and I just had to get this when I saw it. I bought the large version but they do a smaller one as well. This cost me £14 but the smaller one is only £6.

As you can see I have quite a lot of brushes for my eyes and face but not many lip brushes. I may have to buy some more.

The only downside is that I can't actually leave my brushes in it on display as my cat likes to chew the brushes so I have to keep them hidden. She's so cute but cheeky.

A makeup remover pen, I wasn't sure how good this would work but I thought I'd give it a try. I've only tried it on removing mascara and eyeliner mistakes so far but it works pretty well so I'm pleased and it's only £3.75.

I also bought a mineral foundation as I've wanted to try one of these out for quite a while and this only cost £5 so thought I'd give it a try. I bought this in Fair so hopefully it's the right colour for my skin as I'm quite pale and it's really hard to find a colour that matches perfectly.

Midweek Nails - Avon

This week I decided to wear a couple of old polishes I have from Avon. A matte black polish called Black As Night and over the top I used a crackle polish called Fiery Fushsia

The matte polish has great coverage in one coat and it dried very quickly as well.

This is the first time I've actually tried out the Fiery Fushsia and I wasn't very impressed as it didn't actually crackle on my nails at all.

The pink glitter does look quite pretty over the black though.

I decided to try it over a normal nail polish as well and it crackled fine so the crackle polish just doesn't work over matte polish which is a relief.
