Glossybox November 2012

Only a couple of months behind with my Glossyboxes now :)

The November box is filled with popular brands like Nails Inc and Burberry but also some newcomers like Alison Claire. Part of the reason I like getting these boxes is that i can try out new brands.

Here's what I recieved:

Ayuuri - Sandalwood Face Cream/Indian Rose Face Cream

Ayuuri Sandalwood Face Cream

Beauty card: These ayurvedic face creams moisturise your skin without leaving it feeling greasy. The sandalwood cream has Sandalwood Oil, Olive Oil and nourishing Aloe Vera extracts. The beautifully fragrant Indian Rose cream contains Jasmine and Aloe Vera to keep the skin moist and protect it from ageing elements.

In my box I received the Sandalwood Face Cream but I would have preferred the Indian Rose Face Cream as I'm not keen on the smell of Sandalwood. Other than the smell it does feel ice to put on and it was very moisturising. Luckily my mum likes this so I'm giving the rest to her.

Burberry - Burberry Body Eau De Parfum

Burberry Body Eau De Parfum

Burberry Body Eau De Parfum

Beauty card: An effortlessly sensual, feminine fragrance with an eclectic combination of green absinthe, rose and cashmeran.

I'm not keen on this product either, I'm not doing too well out of this box at the moment. The bottle is quite nice but the smell is a bit musky which isn't my taste in perfume.

Alison Claire Natural Beauty - Mango Body Butter

Alison Claire Natural Beauty Mango Body Butter

Beauty card: A delicious blend of organic mango and cocoa butters will leave your skin feeling wonderful.

Now, this product I like. Alison Claire is a fairly new brand and all their products use natural ingredients.

The product is quite thick and it made my skin feel really soft and smooth after, I love the smell of it too. My skin is a bit dry so this is really good for me as it's very moisturising. I would definitely recommend this unless your not keen on the smell of mango. They also do a Vanilla and Coconut Body Butter which I think I'll love too, I may have to try that at some point.

Nails Inc - Kensington Caviar Top Coat/Porchester Square/Notting Hill Gate

Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat

Nails

Beauty card: 3 Nails Inc best sellers including traffic stopping brights and the award winning Caviar top coat.

In my box I received the Kensington Caviar Top Coat. I've heard about this and it's supposedly very quick drying in about 45 seconds and it leaves your nails looking super glossy. I'm very impressed with this, it does dry very quickly and my nails looked really shiny. It's a shame it's only a little bottle so it's not going to last very long then I may have to buy one myself.

Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

Beauty card: A unique rice-based powder that gently exfoliates skin, leaving it noticeably smoother & brighter.

I think the packaging on this is a little boring and I wouldn't have bought this just by looking at it. It has a nice smell to it, a bit fruity and citrusy. After using this my face felt really clean and my skin was really smooth.

So 3 out of 5 products isn't bad, not one of my favourite boxes so far though.

Have a good day.

Broadway Nails Impress

Good Morning

I'm in a very happy mood today as there's lots of SNOW!! I love it and I've been waiting for it all winter :)

This is the view outside my window.

snow

Last night I found out I'd passed the last test paper on my make up course so I just need to send off for my certificate and I'm officially a qualified make up artist, I'm so excited so tonight I'll be celebrating.

I thought I'd try to do my nails every Sunday so today I decided to put on some false nails that I bought a couple of weeks ago. I saw them in Boots and thought they looked cool. They are Broadway Nails Impress and they just stick onto your nails

Unfortunately the false nails are a bit short for some of my nails so it shows my nail a bit but it doesn't notice that much unless your looking up close. I think they look quite good still and they are sticking very well so I'm pleased with them.

Have a lovely snow day :)

Nails Teabag Rescue

Bit of drama this morning as I caught my nail on my laptop bag and now there's a huge split across my nail as you can see in the photo below.

Nail

I've heard about this tea bag method to fix splits as I'm sure many of you have too, I've been meaning to try it out for ages so as I have plenty of time today I thought I'd give it a go.

So here's all my equipment:

007
  • tea bag (obviously)
  • clear polish (Collection 2000)
  • nail polish (Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blood Orange -  just bought this, excited!)
How to:
  • Cut a square piece of teabag
  • Apply clear polish over split
  • Place teabag over split
  • Apply more clear polish on top of teabag

010

  • Once dry file over the teabag to smooth it
  • Apply nail polish

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Blood Orange

I should have filed the teabag down more as you can still see it after applying the nail polish, I'll have to remember to do that next time. I used my new purchase Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blood Orange which you don't need to use a top coat on as it's super shiny on it's own, I love the colour too.

This method seems to be working well at the moment and I haven't caught my nail on anything else so I'm pleased with this.
