Glossybox May 2013

The May box celebrates Glossybox's 2nd birthday and they've put some lovely products in this box.

Awapuhi Wild Ginger - Shine Spray

This product leaves hair soft, silky and hydrated and it contains products which are proven to restore weak and damaged hair. I've used this a few times now and it has made my hair shiny but it also feels silky smooth.

Jelly Pong Pong - Fairy Lashes Mascara

This mascara is waterproof, long lasting and feather light. It's not clumpy and it lengthens and gives volume to the lashes. The photo below shows me wearing this mascara. I love the box this comes in, it's very pretty.

I actually already have one of these eyeliners and I've been using this for quite a few years. This is definitely one of my favourite eyeliners, it's easy to use and lasts all day.

Headline Colors - Poolside Party Nail Polish

This is a brand new colour collection and each colour has an ultra high pigment for rich, intense colour and gloss. It also has UV absorbers so there is less chipping and flaking. It's a lovely blue colour which would be perfect by the pool. I applied 2 coats for this coverage and so far it hasn't chipped so i'm quite pleased

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics - Prime & Create Mixing Medium

This is a new product added to former Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt's range of beauty must haves. It's a clear aloe vera based gel which can be used as a primer or mixed with foundation, blusher or eye shadows. It's only a little pot so I just tried a tiny bit out on my face as a primer and it gives a shine free and matte base to work on.

Midweek Nails - Barry M Sequins

I have a few days off work now as my sister is visiting so I thought I'd paint my nails this morning. I used another Barry M polish today that I bought last week. It's from their sequin collection and is called White.

I liked how it looked in the bottle so I used a white base on my nails then put the sequins over the top.

My nails feel quite bumpy even with a top coat on, I was expecting this a little because of the sequins but it actually looks like there are loads of little air bubbles on my nails from the sequin polish. Not sure if it's supposed to be like that or not but I like the sequins and they'd be great for going to a party.

Midweek Nails - Barry M Confetti

Yesterday I popped to Boots to buy some nail polish remover and while I was there I thought I'd have a look at the polishes and I came out with 2 Barry M polishes from their new confetti range. I bought the blue called Bubblegum and the pink called Marshmallow.

I painted them over a black polish so you can really see the confetti pieces.

I had to apply a few coats of the polish to get this coverage. I do like these and they'll be good for a nice party.

Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara

I've just bought Maybelline's new mascara Mega Plush. It has a flexor brush and uses their 1st gel-mousse formula which is designed for massive and soft lashes and it's not brittle or flaky.

I love trying out different mascaras so when i saw this one advertised on the TV I wanted to try it.

I like the brush, it's very flexible and feels nice to apply. Touching my lashes they do feel quite soft and not stiff at all. Nice and plushy. They also give good volume so this may be my new favourite mascara right now.

Midweek Nails - Stripes and Flowers

I have a couple of nail designs that I tried out this week.

First a stripy design which isn't too neat but it was my first time using a fine brush on my nails. After a little practice I'm sure they'll look much nicer. I used 2 Barry M polishes in Berry and Blueberry then an Avon polish in Black As Night which is a matte polish but it's the only black polish I have at the moment. I will have to by a normal black polish soon as the matte polish dries quicker and I wasn't able to do a smooth line quick enough.

I also attempted to do a flower design on my nails which wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. I used a selection of nail polishes with fine brushes. I think it may have been better to use solid colours first and then put the glitter over top as it's a bit hard to actually see the flower shape. It's still kind of pretty though.

I may try the flowers again in a few weeks with some different colours.

Back from Holiday

Hi guys,

I'm back from my holiday now, it was really lovely to get away and be out in some nice weather. I was going to do a post a few days ago but I took so many photos (600 eek!!)and it's taken me ages to go through them all.

Here's a few of the photos of Cyprus.

 

   

 

 

I did take a few bits of make up with me but I didn't end up wearing much make up as one of my eyes was a bit sore and I thought it best to leave it as clean as possible. Here's one make up look that I wore. I used Nyx Roll On Shimmer in Sea Foam to cover the eyelid then Nyx eyeliner in Pink Suede to line around the eyes and a light pink lip gloss.

I took 2 different sun creams with me, an Avon one and a Tesco one. Both SPF50 as I can't get a tan and just burn in the sun so I try to protect my skin as best I can. I wasn't too keen on the Avon suncream as it felt a bit sticky on my skin after applying so I only used it once then I used the Tesco suncream the rest of the holiday as it felt so much better on my skin.

I also painted my nails out there using an Avon polish in Coral Beat. Sorry for the messy nails, I didn't have anything to hand to clean them up and I wanted to take a photo before I smudged them. They looked so smooth and shiny.
